Prof. Dr. Tim Landgraf – Artificial & Collective Intelligence<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
In the near future,\u00a0the capacity of man-made\u00a0intelligent systems to communicate and collaborate will\u00a0significantly change the way computing and control is organized. In biological systems,\u00a0individual units often organize in groups, yielding various\u00a0benefits for the individual. In social insects, many thousand individuals cooperatively exploit food sources, build or repair home structures, fend off enemies and accomplish a vast variety of tasks without central control.\u00a0My group studies the mechanisms of collective intelligence in\u00a0biological systems (mostly honeybees and guppies) via robots and machine learning methods. We also investigate how\u00a0we can\u00a0apply our\u00a0findings in artificial systems to leverage the combined sensory, cognitive and motor capabilities\u00a0of each individual for the group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
