We have been building autonomous model cars at FU Berlin since 2011. We have cars in 1:8 and 1:10 scale. The cars have been fully developed in-house by teams of students coordinated by Prof. Rojas. The objective of this platform is to give students a robot with which they can program the necessary computer vision, object recognition, and navigation strategy necessary for driving in a model city or a miniature race track. Our cars use the wheel odometry, omnidirectional cameras, on-board electronics, and a new developed stereoscopic camera.
